Formation and Training of Center Management Committees

International women day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 of every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. In this one day celebrations of this day, political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. The celebration of this global day connects all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.

FWA is active in NWFP Pakistan for the uplift and welfare of the rural communities especially for women and children. On the occasions of international days, FWA always contribute its role to arrange different events for the promotion of the theme of the celebrated day.

On 8th of March 2008, FWA/KnK arranged a seminar on the occasion of international women day at Dara Shohal Najaf Khan Balakot. In this seminar a large number of local women, girls, local CBOs and local Government representative took part in this event.

The objective of this seminar was to aware and sensitize the women of the area about their basic rights, to aware them about the steps for achieving economic political and social empowerment, need prioritization for addressing most dire needs of the women to overcome the exploitation of women rights at local level and to aware them about the importance of decision making role of woman in a family.

On this occasion two local educated social workers Ms Rifat and Ms Niazmeen highlighted the issues and discriminations which are practiced against the women of the area in term of equal opportunities of livelihood, education and health facilities. They also expounded the efforts which are employed into action all around the world for the emancipation and greater realization of role of women in the world’s development. Some of the girls took part in the plays and parodies which were to the greater extent didactic in nature in which the injustices against women and frailties and expediencies of which the women become the victims were highlighted. Two girls read the poems which excited the urge in the participants to do extended efforts for their rights.

In the end two female local Government representatives identified the prioritized steps for addressing most urgent issues of the women of that area and sought cooperation from all the women in this regard.
