■We delivered supplies to Kitaibaragi-shi (2011/03/19)

Volunteers helped sort the supplies at the City Hall.

Today, three staffs including the Executive Director went to Kitaibaraki-shi today by car to deliver supplies and to understand the situation of the devastated area.

We delivered contributions (blanket, diapers for both babies and elderly, sanitary goods, powder milk, etc.) from the neighbors of Shimoochiai, Shinjuku-ku, (KnK office location) and All Nipoon Airways Co., Ltd to Kitaibaraki-shi City Hall.

The City Hall staffs working restlessly appreciated the contribution. The supplies collected at the City Hall were to be allocated to the shelter as scheduled by the City officials.
Gas and electricity supplies have been restored and the restoration of water supply is under process at Kitaibaraki-shi.

On the way to the shelter from the City Hall, we saw the damage of Tsunami. The fishing port was severely damaged and the ships and the net were useless. A fisherman said he had no idea when he can go fishing again.

The fishermen’s union building has been damaged.?
The clock on the building has stopped at the time when it was hit.

“No use crying over.? We just have to do what we can do now.”
Fisherman sorting the tangled net looking for useful ones.

We interviewed the afflicted people at the shelter.? One mother said that when she went back to check up on her half collapsed home with her small child, in the instance they entered the house, the child started crying and would not stop.

We showed the messages sent to KnK.? Everyone read each message thoroughly.? Some shed tears when we told them many people not only in Japan but also from overseas are willing to give a hand.

Going forward, we plan to load the truck with many supplies as possible and deliver them to the north part of Iwate prefecture, along with initial investigation.

Your encouragement messages are delivered to the afflicted people.

Please help the children’s affected by the Mega-Earthquake and Tsunami.

note) Contributions sent specifically to support North East Japan would be used solely for that purpose.
