■Earthquake and Tsunami occurred in eastern Japan (2011/03/12)

After our meeting, this morning Saturday 12th March 2011, here is a few indication at we shall do in the following days and weeks.

1) We express our deep concern and condolences to all people affected yesterday and since then by the dramatics earthquakes and tsunami that hit our Country,

2) We shall contact all the schools and youth centers we have been in relation with in the last years, and will ask them whatever we can do,

3) We shall call for volunteers who can work with us, and ask them to be in stand-by and ready to go in the following days and for the following weeks or months,

4) KnK is not first of all an emergency association but an educational one. KnK is still currently working in Pakistan (after earthquake and flooding), Bangladesh (after typhoon), Indonesia (earthquake), Jordan (refugees), etc. But after the few days necessary for saving lives and bring medical assistance, and the few days necessary to clear the roads and main buildings, we shall propose an educational support to some schools and/or youth centers in one affected area,

5) In that specific situation we shall :
- identified one or more schools, youth centers, community centers in any of the affected area, and, with green lights from local authorities, propose our support,
- Make within this coming week (probably as soon as Thursday 17th March) a first survey and visit the area and places identified,
- Propose support such as temporary tents (tents, hot snacks, educational materials, heaters and blankets, etc.) to welcome children and teenagers in day-care assistance, during the following weeks or months if necessary,
- Call for volunteers to organize rotation in this or these centers.

6) We shall call all our children and team within the 8 countries we are working today to ask them to express their solidarity thru our different web sites,

7) We shall call our members, supporters and partners to ask for their support.

In such situation, whatever our country is wealthy, very well equipped with specialist people and material, it is important, as Japanese citizen, to express our deep and sincere solidarity. And that we shall do.

KnK team.
